LEDs Bring Fireworks to London's Clink Street

In London’s historic Southwark district, Clink Street, a popular tunnel thoroughfare, was recently outfitted with an ambitious LED installation. City officials sought out lighting designers, Halo Lighting to enliven and revitalize the tunnel with light and make it a more pleasurable space to travel through for residents and tourists alike. Halo lighting decided to mount on the tunnel’s 23ft high arched Victorian ceiling an LED screen. The LED screen fills an impressive 1,450sqft space on the ceiling and is comprised of 9,600 LED nodes that burn brightly from 7:30am to 10:30pm. The screen creates dazzling and color fireworks displays, demonstrating the dynamic and artistic capabilities of LED technology.

This application of LED technology to the revitalization of an urban space further emphasizes the nearly limitless ways LEDs can be put to use, especially in outdoor spaces.
